This new listing in Creve Coeur is really excited about their systems. All of these pictures come up before you can even see the Living Room and Kitchen. I guess this is equivalent to "Opening Your Kimono"!
It is not always fair to use foreclosed homes as examples of bad realtor photography, though you would think the agent listing it would still try to do a decent job. Here is a Kirkwood home that was just put on the market.

Everyday I look for Bad Realtor Photography....and most Realtors have converted to professional photographers. The pickings are slim. Tonight I found the mother load! A Kirkwood property for sale. You come up with your own captions... where is the meth lab?
I think I committed to use a professional photographer for every listing, no matter the price about 4 years ago. It is expensive, though worth every penny. Here is an example of an agent doing it themselves....and probably not even with a flash! I think the real problem is why these pictures were deemed necessary to understand the house.
You know when you ask one of your older relatives to take a picture and after four good tries you get one decent photo that has a tiny smudge of a finger at the bottom? That's essentially what must've happened here. Not quite sure if they were trying to be featured in the "Bad Realtor Photography" category or not but they made it with over half of this properties photos highlighting a beautiful guest, a third of someones finger.
This horse looks like it is thinking....."move your finger, ding-a-ling!"
I did get a chuckle when I was looking for houses for a client this AM and came across this one. Believe it or not...this was the only picture. I should have a caption contest to see who can come up with the whittiest comment.
All of my features on Bad Realtor Photos are pulled locally in St. Louis.....unless I note the blog post. I know that these photos must have been okay at one point, though uploaded incorrectly....the agent really should have checked their work.

Check out the floor on the left. Remember the Tom Twister at Six Flags when the floor dropped out as you were spinning and you stuck to the wall? You won't stick to the wall in this room when the floor drops....or maybe you will looking at its condition!

When I was first married we bought a charming dutch colonial house in Glendale. I was still infatuated by ducks....which must have been leftover from the preppy 80's. I have to fess up, I did have ducks on my ceiling of our den. I don't know where they are now. I must have lost them in the divorce. Picture seen on this BLOG.

This Webster home looks like they have a log flute right onto a concrete pad....though I know it is a pool cover.
Same home....I can not figure out what is going on in this room...are their card board boxes laid out flat near the bed? A poly chintz bedspread coupled with modern chairs. What is on the right side of the picture...weight equipment?
Here is a condo development in Clayton- this picture highlights the courtyard...is it me or is this just unattractive?
Reader Wendy sent me this picture this morning! Oversized furniture in a small room...and is it just me or do you think it is hard getting in the front door and around that massive couch?
First of all....when some people think of mid-century homes, they think of homes like this. It is from 1972, which in wine terms is a "bad vintage". I don't think new construction turned out anything good until the 90's....though with McMansions and everything else, can be debated. Back to bad photography...some of this is just a bad subject, though there is lots of bad photography here also!
I don't know if this house has a tennis court or a large pet enclosure.
For you garden enthusiasts...here is a planter waiting for you to fill it!

I think the photographer wanted to stress the hardwood floors in this shot.
This home was recently listed in Ladue. You really wonder what people were thinking when they took the photographs. It would take about 5 minutes to straighten up these rooms to make them presentable. Thank you reader Will for bringing this to my attention!
I love the toilet paper roll on the dinner tray table next to the chair. The poor owner probably has a cold.
The folding chair makes this room sing! He also needs to do laundry....check out the hamper. Oh wait....I just noticed that the bed is on the floor and the headboard and footboard are leaning up against the wall. He must have lost the screws to put it together when he moved in.
Here is a realtor shot for a house they are trying to sell. I think it was taken during the brush fires going on during the summer...or the fog coming in from the bay....oh...we are not in California are we?

I love the unmade bed.....this is what really gave me a chuckle. Though what is in the lower right side of the pic....I think it may be a walker....now I am feeling bad that this person is handicapped and I am poking fun. Don't you think the the realtor could have helped out and at least fluffed and spread out the duvet?
