David Deatherage of Century Design took on the "men's study" which was once one of the boy's bedrooms. The family that built the house had 7 kids....2 boys and 5 girls. David used Custom Furniture Works to transform the standard paneling into a visual delight. He also had them turn the closets into bookshelves. David is helping me with a few items at my new Bernoudy home.
The 2012 Ladue News Decorator's Show House was a great success. St. Louis' Top Designers transformed this Bernoudy home into even more of a masterpiece. I am going to have a Before and After series after I get the photographs in my hot little hands. In the meantime, check out Ladue New's Elegant Living Magazine at the news stands.....and this LINK. This lovely home is for sale through me for $3.5 million...18 acres and the stunning home.
There are emails floating all around about the real estate sales tax that was part of the Healthcare Reform Act. This potential tax could affect only 2-5% of home sales. Watch this video to get informed. Read more HERE.

I am interviewing a couch for my Living Room. This is a Dunbar Sofa by Edward Wormley. I would have Custom Furniture Works refurbish it and upholster it in a more neutral tone. The second picture is of one on First Dibs that has been redone. I like the single bottom cushion. What do you think?
The bookshelf has panels that you can slide in to hang art or just create a break. I am going to have them refaced with a fabric.
Last weekend I hosted a group of 12 at our farmhouse in Pike County. Of course the weather was perfect....though cool enough in the evening to light a bonfire and a fire in the main fireplace. Dinner consisted of sirloin steak, acorn squash stuffed with wild rice, brussel sprouts with Italian ham....and apple cobble...and a banana cream pie from The Blue Owl. Yum! We walked to our "sunken" graveyard in the back woods after dinner.....scary and I was surprised I could find the graves at night. Country egg casseroles in the morning following by lunch in Clarksville at Overlook Farms.
I have been told that my blogging is a bit boring these days. It is a combination of managing home projects, a busy Real Estate market and U Verse Internet issues. My new house is a wiring nightmare having a main house and guesthouse....sounds fancy, though I doubt I have 2000 sq ft combined.
I was unable to salvage the cork floors in my bedroom. The carpet tacking destroyed them. I am laying new cork in that room. It is done now and I am finally out of the guest house.
I have been using my late fathers fancy shower with 6 body sprays. I have never been cleaner! The other bathroom has my mother's jacuzzi tub. She is from the bath set and I don't think has taken a shower. I have not used it yet.
I have acres of brick patio and walls. My masons have been busy. The lovely staircase will be acid washed to remove the white film.
My cat, Boo, is terrified to leave the house during the day though is happy going out at night. You would think it would be the opposite with owls, coyote and other wildlife around.
So here is a product endorsement from Ted: try Caldrea dish soap in the Basil Blue Sage scent. I found it at Straub's. it is life changing. You will love to do dishes. I give it at as a host gift. One friend I gave it to said he loves it so much, he wanted to wash his hair in it!
One of my sons is in town for Fall Break from college. We took the opportunity to check out 5 Star Burgers' new location in Clayton. This is a small national chain. Our burgers were yummy! Located on Maryland Ave near my other favorite....Half and Half.
Local....though internationally aclaimed artist, Gary Passanise, will be having an open of his new show this Friday, October 19th from 5-9 PM. The Opening is at Bruno David Gallery, 3721 Washinton Ave in Grand Center. I will be there!
Earlier this year I added a talented agent to my team of one. I have always liked to do everything and never thought someone could take care of one of my clients as well as I can...well I was wrong. Kelli Graf has helped me with several Buyers and Sellers and I think the clients who have worked with her like her better than me. Here are some recent closes over the last 30 days that she has handled:
1074 Winter Lake Drive, St. Louis County- represented the Buyer
1513 Carriage Bridge Trail, Ballwin- represented the Buyer
3646 Cook Ave, St. Louis City- represented the Buyer
Osage Oranges are a fixture of farm living....at least in Pike County, MO. It is interesting to read about them....click HERE. I love the idea that they can repel spiders if placed under a bed. They will slowly shrink and become the size of a golf ball. The chartreuse color is perfect.
Beware...they have nasty thorns! I was clearing out a corral at our farm and decided to clip back an Osage Orange that was near a fence....it whipped back at me and I received several horrible scratches. Silly me to be doing farm work in shorts.
I went through this property yesterday and loved the flow, windows, openness and spaces. Very cool. I need to go back and take some more pictures.
"This must-see home is located in the sought-after community of Glendale on a quiet, tree-lined street. #20 Clif Side is a rare treasure, one-of-a-kind design reflecting the Frank Lloyd Wright building era. Large rooms, open floor plan and many updates including: wood floor refinishing, updated lighting, fresh neutral paint throughout and some landscaping can be found throughout the home." $350,000
Notes from the agent: "The current owners lived there for several years. The story they told me was that in the 50s the Dean of the School of Architecture at Washington University had his graduate students design a house in the architectural style of Frank Lloyd Wright. #20 is the result of the assignment. The person was friend's with the dean and purchased the drawings and had the house built. So... it really is a one of a kind!

Last month I had the treat of visiting Alan Lorence at his garden in West County. Alan must have 50+ varieties of bamboo and hundreds of other plants. Early this year you may remember he came to my old house to help me contain my bamboo. I went to his home garden to see what varieties I want for my new house. I think with the Asian feeling of my property, bamboo will be at home. I just need a plan to contain and maintain it. Warning! You just can not plant running bamboo and not tend to it.

Over the weekend I was up in Lake Forest Illinois for my 25th college reunion. This morning I went down to the lovely lakefront. So pretty! The fall colors always seem a little prettier along the lake.
I am horrible about setting goals and running reports to keep track of my sales volume. I just ran a report of my 2012 sales and am at over $16,000,000. I think I am going to double what I did last year. Someone told me that I am in the top 5% of St. Louis agents. Check out my Facebook Business Page to see what I have sold.
