"Anyone driving past the concrete saucer at 212 South Grand Avenue over the past few months has been witness to its rapid transformation from a run-down Del Taco into a sleek and stylish space-aged dream.
Just one year ago the former Phillips 66 gas station, built in 1967 as part of Council Plaza and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was slated for demolition to make way for a standard strip mall. Saved through the efforts of dedicated citizens region-wide and by preservation non-profits such as ModernSTL, Landmarks Association of St. Louis, Missouri Preservation and even the National Trust, it has now been restored to its original elegance and will soon house Midtown’s first Starbucks and Chipotle.
Today ModernSTL is thrilled to report, on good authority, that the Starbucks branch is slated to open this Friday, September 28th! So keep your eyes peeled – while such openings are prone to postponement, the Saint Louis community shouldn’t have long to wait before it can quench its thirst beneath the welcoming concrete disc which has made this building a local landmark for the past forty-five years."

It is an education to see his works beyond the Falling Man series.

Famed Photographer, Wesley Law, came over to my house last week to take a night picture of my new house. Dramatic and cool! Check out his fashion spread in the September 14th Ladue News. The pictures were taken at my Bernoudy listing in Town and Country that is going to be the Ladue News Decorator's Showcase in early October.
I have been so busy with selling houses, sending kids off to college, vacationing and moving into my new house that I have neglected the farm. It has been about 2 months since I have been out here. Yesterday we had a family work detail and a dinner with some friends out at the farm. 18 people with beef brisket, pork tenderloin and grilled venison. So good!
Morning glories are one of my favorite things about this time of the year.
This week I finally had an opportunity to go through the special home located at 11527 Conway Rd. This home was designed by Ben Shapiro. There is so much to be excited about with this home. It is open, tons of windows, fine craftmanship and in great shape. Wait until you see the views out the back windows.....Westwood CC's golf course! 3 Bedrooms, 2830 sq ft, 3.5 baths, $695,000

A Mutschler Kitchen
And you have to love this room....though you would have to change it
The other evening I saw an old, oil cloth game mat in a home in Compton Heights. Can you imagine the delight of the kids that had this in their playroom? I think this would be cool to recreate and sell.
Today my listing located at 7924 Teasdale Ct in U City closed. This home was in a family for over 45 years and was purchased by a young couple. I was the second agent to list this property and was able to get it sold!

A highlight of the Clayton Art Fair was seeing the work of Robert Longyear. Robert shares a studio with Alicia LaChance in Maplewood. You can see how they influence each other. I need to get all of my artwork hung in my new home and then see if I have a space for one of Robert's pieces.
Last night the owner of the Magic Chef Mansion in Compton Heights hosted a Birthday Celebration for one of my friends. Homemade chicken ravioli....so good! The birthday cake came from Tim Brennan's Cravings. The most wonderful thing I have ever tasted!
Check out the bowling lane in the basement that was recently restored. It looked like something right out of "And There Will Be Blood".
I was at a fun gathering in Ladue celebrating my Aunt Bunny's new book. Check out the blog from a few days ago for more about her book. I love this piece of artwork in the gracious hostesses' screened porch. The lightbulbs changed patterns.
Also look at her Bernoudy-designed patio and "martini" pool. The house is not a Bernoudy, though she hired him to do some of the outdoor space.
After over 100 years and thousands of meals, my grandmother's dining room table has been refinished. The table once graced her Lindell Blvd home and has 4 leaves. It must have come from the old Warfield shop. Custom Furniture Works did the job. 314-644-0460.
Notice the cork floors that I just rejuvenated. They look great!
