This week I went through one of my favorite homes in Ladue...the white-pillared home on Price. It is now on the market with Coldwell Banker's Ladue Office. I am told that this was the Arkansas display house from the World's Fair. My step grandmother, Grace Wallace Niedringhaus Wight, lived in this house as a young girl in first part of the 1900's. She told me that it was really out in the country at that time. The street car stopped at Busch's Grove. She said that things changed in the area when the St. Louis Country Club moved from Clayton to the present location in the 1920's. Then everyone started building homes in the area. She also grimaced when she heard that an owner after her family painted the pecan panelling white.
