I had a 5 hp. Johnson Sea Horse like the one in your photo when I was a kid. It was attached to a john boat until one day as I was speeding across the cove and it flew off. Apparently I hadn't tightened it down enough. It was quite a scare as it flew up into the air before it sunk. Luckily I had tied a rope from the engine to the transom as a contingency if the engine flew off, unfortunately that motor was never quite right after its sinking. We upgraded to 5.5 hp. Johnson of 1960's vintage. Thanks for jogging the memories Ted.
