I understand that the lovely, mid-century Clayton Forsyth Building is targeted to be torn down in the next couple years. It will be replaced with a retail and condo complex. I have always admired this building that echos the curve in Forsyth. It is too bad that St. Louis continues to tear down its mid-century architecture.

Ted, wasn't that home to Famous many years ago? I seem to remember stopping by en route to Broadcast Center, when it was located in Clayton. I was a student there as a teenager. I'd park in the Famous lot, spray on some Poison (ACK!) cologne and head to class. So sad it's being torn down.

Mutha,
Actually the Famous Barr building is further East and is now owned by Washington University.

I only gradually came to love this building. When simply driving by, I wasn't terribly impressed, but going there to visit my dentist for many years changed my outlook altogether.
I encourage anyone interested in this period of design to tour the interior and what remains of the original construction. Hidden in the corridor walls are some wonderful examples of full-height corrugated glass panels.
The aluminum railings in the entry hall are wonderful expressions of the era.

I am going to take some interior pics soon. It was locked on Sunday when I was driving by. The light fixtures are great also!
